Saint Nicholas Grove

Located just 3 km outside the town of Naoussa, the Saint Nicholas Grove is a lush green area with towering plane trees, crossed by the Arapitsa River. Here you’ll find traditional tavernas, sports facilities, and a small artificial lake, making it ideal for relaxation and outdoor activities.

Aristotle’s School

Very close to Naoussa lie the remains of Aristotle’s School. According to ancient sources, this is where the philosopher Aristotle taught the young Alexander the Great. It is a highly significant and fascinating archaeological site.

Genitsaroi and Boubles

This is an ancient Carnival tradition. Today, the custom evolves while incorporating local traditions, myths, legends, songs, and the heroic struggles of Naoussa. The performers have always been—and still are—young men.

Municipal Park

Take a stroll through the town’s municipal park. Centuries-old trees, colorful flowers, and a lake with ducks and wooden bridges create a truly unique atmosphere. From here, enjoy panoramic views over the Macedonian plain.

Naoussa represents the Macedonia of water, resistance, and art. A vibrant town firmly grounded in history while moving forward with creativity and authenticity. Welcoming, dynamic, and deeply connected to its land and people, Naoussa is surrounded by lush greenery and features several parks. The municipal park, created in the 1950s and covering approximately 30 acres, is considered one of the most important parks in Greece.

Gastronomy – Xinomavro, Tsipouro & Flavors with Character

Naoussa’s traditional cuisine is rich in both savory dishes and sweets. Locals historically used ingredients produced within the region and always followed seasonal availability. Even the fish used were freshwater varieties. A distinctive feature of Naoussa’s gastronomy is the frequent use of wine as a core ingredient in both dishes and desserts.

Best Time to Visit

Naoussa can be visited year-round, depending on your interests and preferred activities. In spring and summer, enjoy scenic nature trails and outdoor experiences. In winter, combine your trip with visits to the nearby ski resorts of 3–5 Pigadia and Seli. During Carnival season, witness the area’s unique customs and traditions up close—they are truly unforgettable.

How to get around in Naoussa

Transportation options to/from the airport

Travel to Naousa by car. The town is 90 km from Thessaloniki and 510 km from Athens. Drive to Veria and then continue on the Veria-Edessa road up to Naousa. You can also reach the area by intercity KTEL buses, which operate frequent daily routes, or by train.

Public Transportation

Getting around the city is best done by private car or via public transportation. Urban buses and taxis connect the neighborhoods with the wider area, while the city is also ideal for walking tours.

Thank you very much for the group to Athens! They had a great time. They were very enthusiastic about the trip & guide Jason. he swimming/beach stop after Corinth was a big plus. They enjoyed the nature as addition to the city and culture. Always good to add that when visiting Corinth.

The location of the hotel was very good, so a bus transfer in the evening was not always necessary. They could have easily come back via the metro to the hotel. That would have saved us real money.

My Kids and I loved the trip except for our lost baggage from the Aegean airlines upon arrival at Athens at the start of the trip.Loved all the sightseeing. Tour guides and Pick up services were awesome!! Tour guides were very knowledgeable in their area and history of the city and my kids and I loved that. They answered all our questions. Pick up services were always on time.I just wish I had a little more time in Corfu to do the boat tour as I had planned. Wasn’t able to accomplish that.
