A man made wonder in the heart of Thessaly
One of the most iconic artificial lakes in Greece, Plastiras Lake is the ideal destination for relaxation, romance, family calm, or outdoor adventure. In the surrounding villages
You can explore the traditional villages around the lake. Kryoneri, Neochori, Kalivia Pezoulas, Keramario and Mesenikolas. They are both semi-mountainous and lakeside, each with its own beauty.
At the dam and at the observatory
This is an amazing construction with a width of 220 meters that holds the waters of the lake. Near the dam is the road to the observatory. Go up to the wooden kiosk and you will have a view of the whole lake.

At Lake Plastira you can indulge in a variety of activities such as horseback riding, archery, water bikes, canoe kayaking, mountain biking by the lake and hiking on the marked trails of the Belokomitis educational forest.
Τhe monasteries
The I. Monastery of Panagia Pelekitis is built on a cliff at 1,400m. near the village of Karytsa. While the Monastery of Korona overlooks the eastern side of Lake Plastira. It was built in the 12th century, when the miraculous icon of Panagia Koroni was found at the site.

Try also wild boar with pasta, boiled goat, or oven-baked lamb.

Lake Plastira is 325 km from Athens and 250 km from Thessaloniki.
Both routes converge in Karditsa, passing through the Thessalian plain. You can travel by your own car or alternatively by KTEL (Long Distance Bus)
