Porto Lagos
The quiet fishing village with a trademark of the church of Ag. Nikolaou, part of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi is aunique scenery. In the fish shops you will taste fresh fish but also a lot of salted and smoked fished are sold here. Next to it there is a small grove.
Pomakochoria
Traditional villages on the slopes of Rodopi that until 1995 lived isolated from the rest of Greece. The Pomaks, dressed in traditional costumes, plow their tobacco crops, smoke hookah in traditional cafes and talk to visitors about their place.
Old Town

Buses run daily from Athens and Thessaloniki to Xanthi. The distance from Athens is 705 km while the distance from Thessaloniki is 205 km.
An alternative transportation option is by train from Athens and Thessaloniki with daily itineraries while the nearest airports are those of Kavala and Alexandroupolis.
Public transportation
To move in Xanthi, it is good to have your own car. But even in case you do not, there are bus routes that connect Xanthi with most settlements in the prefecture. Alternatively, you can rent a car on the spot.
