Ikaria has a rich culinary tradition and outstanding local products. In the island’s tavernas and meze spots, try smoked herring, marinated anchovies, fresh fish with local tsipouro or ouzo, local goat, zucchini fritters, chickpea patties, cheese pies with local goat cheese kathoura, and puff pies with green pepper and melted cheese. Don’t miss kolokasi (sweet Ikarian potato), soufiko (Ikarian ratatouille), keskeiki, and starozoumo. Before leaving, take home some of Ikaria’s high-quality local products such as wildflower honey and spoon sweets made with kaisí (apricot variety) or rose petals.

Ikaria is an all seasons island. In the summer to enjoy diving in its clear blue and crystal-clear waters and dancing until the morning at its festivals. In spring and autumn to explore its mountain villages, Gorges, and trails.
