    Litochoro

Where the mountain meets the sea, at the foot of mythical Mount Olympus

For travellers looking for a destination that combines mountain and sea, Litochoro is an ideal choice. This magical place is defined by cobbled alleys, stone fountains, small squares, churches and authentic Macedonian architecture, still visible in several neoclassical sea captains’ mansions. A walk through the picturesque town reveals a few old houses that have preserved their traditional Macedonian character. Strolling around Litochoro will reward you with charming little squares, its lively shopping street, local tavernas, Katounia Park and the chapel of Prophet Elias, which stands proudly at the highest point of the town.

    Highlights

    Beaches

Beyond the mountain, Litochoro also offers access to beautiful beaches such as Variko, Gritsa and Plaka, the seaside area of Litochoro, where organised campsites can also be found, as well as Stathmos Beach. The crystal-clear waters of the area will certainly not disappoint you.

    Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus is not simply a mountain. It is an entire world of natural beauty, history and mythology. Rising proudly like a giant tower to almost 2,918 metres, it dominates the surrounding landscape with unmatched grandeur.

    Olympus National Park

With landscapes of exceptional beauty, Olympus National Park was the first National Park of Greece. It covers 45,000 acres and includes oak trees, black pines, beech trees, Bosnian pines, alpine vegetation, 1,700 plant species, 32 mammal species and 108 bird species.

    Enipeas Gorge

Discover the enchanting Enipeas Gorge. Impressive cliffs, ravines and streams, dense vegetation, picturesque wooden bridges, flowing waters, small crystal-clear pools and waterfalls create a wonderful natural setting that fascinates lovers of mountain routes and outdoor exploration.

    Activities

There are nine main mountaineering routes, with the most popular being the trail from Litochoro to Prionia through the Enipeas Gorge. Before reaching Prionia, the route leading to the Plateau of the Muses and the highest peaks of Mount Olympus begins.

    Dion

The open-air archaeological site of Dion offers a beautiful walk through a landscape filled with ancient trees, lakes and flowing waters. Here, visitors can also admire what is perhaps the largest ancient mosaic in Greece, covering 100 square metres.

    Holy Monastery of Saint Dionysios

Inside the Enipeas Gorge lies the old monastery founded by Saint Dionysios of Olympus in 1542. The present Holy Monastery of Saint Dionysios is located just 3 kilometres from Litochoro and serves as a dependency of the old monastery.

Athens 4 days Group Tour from Germany

Thank you very much for the group to Athens! They had a great time. They were very enthusiastic about the trip & guide Jason. he swimming/beach stop after Corinth was a big plus. They enjoyed the nature as addition to the city and culture. Always good to add that when visiting Corinth.

The location of the hotel was very good, so a bus transfer in the evening was not always necessary. They could have easily come back via the metro to the hotel. That would have saved us real money.

Thanks again and looking forward to all the coming groups!

    Αthens, Santorini and Corfu
My Kids and I loved the trip except for our lost baggage from the Aegean airlines upon arrival at Athens at the start of the trip.Loved all the sightseeing. Tour guides and Pick up services were awesome!! Tour guides were very knowledgeable in their area and history of the city and my kids and I loved that. They answered all our questions. Pick up services were always on time.I just wish I had a little more time in Corfu to do the boat tour as I had planned. Wasn’t able to accomplish that. Loved the wine tasting, Oia and Fira in Santorini. Thank You so much for helping me plan this trip. Great memories made on this trip!!Savita
