Volos and Skiathos, 8days

After breakfast we will explore the historic district of Volos, also known as Palia (Old Town) or Kastro (The Castle of Volos). The Byzantine wall and the palace of Iolcus, Roman baths, early Christian churches and structures of the Ottoman period. We end our walk with a visit to the Volos City Museum. We take our time to have lunch. In the afternoon you may wish to take a walk to the beach of Volos. Dinner and overnight in Volos.

Start your day in Milies, a charming Pelion village famous for its traditional mansions, cobbled streets, and the historic Milies Train Station, home to the scenic Pelion Steam Train. Explore local artisan shops, visit the Agios Nikolaos Church, and enjoy panoramic views of the Pagasetic Gulf. Take a scenic drive along the coastal road towards Vizitsa, passing olive groves, cypress trees, and mountain landscapes. Stop at photo points along the way to capture the beauty of Pelion. Arrive in Vizitsa, another picturesque Pelion village. Stroll through its stone-paved alleys, admire the traditional mansions and old fountains, and visit the small local museum to learn about the area’s history. Relax at a traditional taverna in Vizitsa, tasting local delicacies and enjoying the serene mountain atmosphere. Overnight in Volos.

Optional activities: Short hike on a nearby nature trail, or sampling local sweets and olive oil products in the village shops.

Begin your day in Portaria, a traditional Pelion village famous for its stone-paved streets, colorful mansions, and panoramic views over the Pagasetic Gulf. Explore the village square, visit local artisan shops, and enjoy a morning coffee at a charming café while taking in the mountain scenery. Take a short drive or hike along the scenic Pelion trails towards Makrinitsa, known as the “balcony of Pelion” for its breathtaking views of Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf. Stop at scenic viewpoints for photographs along the way. Arrive in Makrinitsa, a village of historic stone mansions and lush gardens. Walk through its cobbled alleys, visit the Folklore Museum, and admire the old fountains and churches. Enjoy a light lunch at a local taverna with traditional Pelion cuisine. Relax in the village square, sip a drink at a café, and watch the sunset over the mountains and the Gulf. Overnight in Volos.

Optional activities: Visit a local olive oil or honey producer, or take a short nature walk to nearby forests for panoramic views.

We board the cruise ship to Skiathos island and set anchor at Skiathos town. You will have 3 h of free time to stroll around. The trip continues to the famous beach of Koukounaries for 3 more hours and then return back to Skiathos town in the afternoon. Rest of day free to wander around in charming Skiathos town. Dinner and overnight.

We board the boat to Alonissos island. We set anchor at Patitiri. You may enjoy some meal in local restaurants, coffee or ice cream, shopping, pay a visit at the Folklore Museum or visit Chora, the medieval village. In Skopelos town visit the Folklore Museum or see the remains of a Venetian fortress. Departure for dinner and overnight in Skiathos.

After breakfast we board for Volos. Once we arrive in Volos we will start our trip back to Thessaloniki. Dinner and overnight.
