Itinerary
Arrival at Alexandroupoli airport pick up your car and drive to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time free time to make a first connection with the city. Overnight.
Breakfast at your hotel and depart for a half day city tour. We will see The Ecclesiastical Museum of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis housed in “Leontarideio Urban School Boys” in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Church of St. Nicholas, the Historical Museum of Alexandroupolis,the building is located in the center of the city, opposite the Town hall. Visit the Ethnological Museum of Alexandroupolis and the Lighthouse of Alexandroupoli. We continue our tour to Mesimvria. Here you will have the opportunity to take the most stunning photos overlooking the Thracian sunset and of course taste traditional local Thracian products. Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel and depart for a full day tour to Adrianople. Adrianople lies on the border with Greece and Bulgaria. Its historical significance has distinguished it among other major cities of the neighboring country. You will love the narrow streets and the countless shops in the downtown markets. Late arrival in Alexandroupoli. Overnight.
After breakfast depart for a full day trip to the beautiful city of Kavala where any street will take you to the old town to the top of Simvolos mountain, where the main attraction of Kavala is located – a Byzantine fortress built on the site of the ancient Kavala acropolis, from where you can enjoy an amazing view of the whole city and of the Aegean Sea and in good weather also the island of Thassos. Then visit the archeological site of Philippi. Philippi is located near the ruins of the ancient city and is part of the Macedonia Region. The ancient city of Philippi founded by the King of Macedonia Philip II (father of Alexander the Great) as a Thassian colony of Crenides in 356 BC. Continue along the Egnatia highway to arrive in your hotel in Alexandroupoli. Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel and depart for Kavala for a full day tour to the beautiful island of Thassos. Thassos is one of those Greek islands that boasts an incredible natural setting. Thassos island is the northernmost island of the Aegean Sea and sits very close to the coasts of the Greek mainland. Return to Alexandroupoli. Overnight
After breakfast we depart for a full day trip to the closest cities in Alexandroupoli. Beautiful Komotini and Xanthi with their old cities that will fascinate you. Return late in the evening in Alexandroupoli. Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel and depart to explore the Evros Delta.When it comes to artistic flair, nature is the true master in these parts. The Evros Delta is a nature lover’s dream. Freshwater mixes with the sea to create a rich wetland habitat and vital sanctuary for large numbers of water birds. Of Greece’s 400 species, 300 pass through here, while the river itself boasts 46 kinds of fish, 7 amphibian, 21 reptile and more than 40 mammal species. Depart for Soufli. You will have the opportunity to visit Soufli and be better informed about the loom, how many types there are manual, motorized wooden and metal large and small. Made from the beginning of 1900 until today. You will learn about the weaving process, as well as the types of weaving pattern and the variety of yarns used in the weaving art.
