The Ultimate 11-Day Catholic Pilgrimage

We depart for ancient Neapolis, the port where Paul disembarked, obeying the Divine call (“Come over to Macedonia and help us”). We continue to Philippi, the first European city to hear the Gospel. We stand before the ancient prison where Paul and Silas proved that prayer and hymns can break human chains. A profoundly moving moment follows at the Zygaktis River: where Lydia was baptized, we will renew our baptismal vows, reflecting on the grace of the Holy Spirit. Lunch at a traditional local restaurant. Return to Thessaloniki, dinner at the hotel, and overnight.

In the morning, we tour the early Christian monuments of Thessaloniki. We then travel to Veria (Berea). We stand with reverence at the Bema of St. Paul, remembering the Bereans who, according to the Acts of the Apostles, studied the Scriptures with an open heart to discover the Truth. It is a calling to examine our own spiritual zeal. Lunch at a local, traditional tavern. We depart through the majestic Greek countryside for Kalambaka. Dinner at our 4* hotel and overnight.

Meteora is a miracle of nature and human devotion. We visit the monasteries standing suspended between earth and sky, symbols of the ascetic struggle, silence, and ceaseless prayer. This spiritual experience invites us to lift our gaze from worldly matters toward God. After an authentic lunch at a traditional tavern in Kalambaka, we depart for Athens. Dinner at our 4* hotel in Athens and overnight.

Morning departure for Delphi, the center of the ancient pagan world. This tour provides the historical context to understand the spiritual darkness that prevailed before the coming of Christ, and the salvific power of the Gospel brought by Paul. Lunch at a traditional restaurant at the foothills of Mount Parnassus. Return to Athens. In the evening, dinner at the 4* hotel and rest.

We ascend the Acropolis, the pinnacle of ancient human philosophy. Right below, we stand on Mars Hill (the Areopagus), the rocky outcrop where human reason met Divine Revelation. Your Spiritual Director will read from Acts (17:22-31) the masterful sermon of Paul, who dared to preach the Crucified and Risen Christ in a world full of idols. Lunch at a traditional restaurant in the historic Plaka district. Free time for reflection and strolling. Dinner at the hotel.

We drive to Ancient Corinth, the city where Paul lived for 18 months facing trials, yet founding a vibrant Church. Walking through the ancient ruins, we stand at the Bema of Gallio, the tribunal where Paul was judged for his faith. The site echoes the greatest hymn ever written about Christian Love (“Love is patient, love is kind…”). Lunch at a traditional local tavern. Return to Athens for the final dinner of our land tour at our 4* hotel.

In the morning, the Mazi coach transfers you to the port for embarkation. We begin our maritime pilgrimage across the waters traversed by the early missionaries to bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth. In the evening, the ship docks at Mykonos. Free time to walk and admire the beauty of creation in the whitewashed island alleys. Dinner and overnight on board.

A day of spiritual climax. In Kusadasi, we travel to Ephesus. We proceed with deep reverence to the House of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi) on Mt. Koressos. It is a place of absolute serenity, where the Mother of God lived in prayer, surrendering Herself to the Will of Her Son. In the afternoon, we sail to Patmos. We cross the threshold of the Sacred Cave of the Apocalypse, where the exiled Apostle John, in the Spirit, heard the voice of God and wrote the prophetic Book of hope and Christ’s ultimate victory. Dinner on board.

Arrival in Heraklion, Crete, the island where Paul appointed his disciple, Titus, to organize the local Church. In the afternoon, we arrive in Santorini. As we gaze upon the caldera and the volcanic rocks, we praise the unfathomable grandeur of the Creator, reflected in this breathtaking landscape. Final dinner on board and time for a spiritual review of our journey.
