Itinerary
Start your day in the heart of Sifnos by wandering through Apollonia, the island’s vibrant capital. Stroll along the pedestrian-friendly “Steno” (narrow alley), admiring the elegant Cycladic architecture, boutique shops, and charming blue-domed churches. In the afternoon, grab a coffee in the central square, soaking in the local atmosphere. End the evening with a traditional dinner at a lively taverna, tasting authentic island dishes like revithada (slow-cooked chickpea soup) baked in a traditional clay pot.
Dedicate your morning to exploring Kastro, the historic, fortified medieval capital. Wander through its ancient, labyrinthine pathways and admire the Venetian coats of arms. Walk down the cliffside steps to the highly photographed Church of the Seven Martyrs, perched dramatically above the Aegean Sea. Conclude your day with a relaxing evening stroll and a seafood dinner at the small, picturesque fishing port of Seralia just below Kastro.
Begin your day by delving into Sifnos’s renowned ceramic traditions. Visit a local pottery workshop to watch artisans shape clay using centuries-old techniques, and pick up a unique, handmade souvenir. In the afternoon, head to the sheltered bay of Vathi. Enjoy the calm, shallow waters and rest your legs at a traditional coastal eatery right on the sand, sampling rich local cheeses and mastelo (lamb or goat slow-cooked in red wine).
Embark on a morning journey to Artemonas, the island’s most aristocratic village. Walk the traditional alleys lined with impressive neoclassical mansions, lush gardens, and artisan bakeries. In the afternoon, take a peaceful drive to the iconic Monastery of Chrisopigi. Cross the small bridge connecting the severed rock to the island, explore the historic church, and enjoy a refreshing swim at the neighboring Apokofto beach beneath the shaded trees.
Spend your final morning walking along the peaceful shores of Platis Gialos, one of the longest sandy beaches in the Cyclades. These expansive golden sands and crystal-clear waters are incredibly atmospheric and tranquil. Stroll past the quiet coastline, picking up authentic local souvenirs like traditional almond sweets (amygdalota) before relaxing with a final frappe or Greek coffee by the port of Kamares, soaking in the island vibes one last time before heading to the ferry for your departure.
