To fully appreciate the spiritual and natural history of the region, hike through the dramatic Aoos Gorge to the historic Stomio Monastery, where Saint Paisios lived as a monk.
In the town itself, you can visit the preserved House of Saint Paisios and the grand Ottoman-era Hamam ruins. Finally, a trip to the nearby Bourazani Environmental Park offers a wonderful look at regional wildlife, while the stone-built villages known as Mastorochoria showcase centuries of legendary masonry.

Itinerary
Start your day by arriving in the scenic mountain town of Konitsa. Explore the cobblestone alleys of the upper town, known as Vapori, and admire the grand stone mansions and traditional fountains.
Visit the House of Saint Paisios to learn about his early life and connection to the town. In the evening, head to the central square lined with plane trees. Enjoy dinner at a traditional taverna, tasting local meats, grilled cheeses, and authentic Epirus pies.
Dedicate your morning to walking down to the monumental Konitsa Stone Bridge at the entrance of the Aoos Gorge. From there, follow the scenic riverside hiking trail that leads deep into the canyon.
After a rewarding trek, you will reach the spectacular Stomio Monastery, which clings dramatically to the cliffside. Explore the monastery grounds and enjoy the panoramic views before hiking back. Conclude your day with a relaxing hot beverage in the town square.
Begin your day with an outdoor adventure by trying rafting or kayaking on the Aoos River or the nearby Voidomatis River, celebrated as one of the cleanest rivers in Europe.
In the afternoon, take a short drive to the Bourazani Environmental Park near the border. Take a guided tour through the park to observe wild deer, roe deer, and wild boars living in their natural habitat. Enjoy a quiet dinner at a nearby riverside eatery.
Embark on a morning road trip to explore the Mastorochoria, a cluster of remote mountain villages famous for their master stone masons. Visit Pyrsogianni, the historical hub of these craftsmen, and check out the local Stone Masonry Museum.
Continue driving through the pine forests to the beautifully preserved village of Kastaniani. Enjoy a traditional lunch featuring wild mushrooms and wild herbs at a local mountain tavern before returning to Konitsa.
Spend your final morning driving to the nearby village of Amarantos to visit its unique thermal springs. Unlike traditional thermal pools, Amarantos features natural warm steam baths rising from deep mountain faults, offering a deeply relaxing experience.
Head back into Konitsa to pick up authentic local souvenirs, such as mountain tea, local honey, wild herbs, and traditional tsipouro, soaking in the serene alpine vibes one last time before your departure.
