Itinerary
Arrival at Athens airport , transfer to Athens and check in to your hotel. Free afternoon to stroll in the picturesque narrow streets of Plaka. Overnight at the hotel in Athens.
After breakfast we will have a day trip by bus to Athens. Our Guide will meet you in the Lobby and you will start your Panoramic tour. Passing by the old Palace which is now the Presidential Manor, The Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896, Hadrian´s gate, Constitution Square, The Parliament, The Memorial to the Unknown Soldier guarded by the Evzones (the special Guard), Panepistimiou Avenue, the Old University of Athens, National Library. Then on to Acropolis of Athens visiting Parthenon and Erechtheion. After the tour we recommend a walk in Plaka the old Athenian quartier, enjoy a cup of coffee or a nice Greek meal in one of the local Taverns. Today we will enjoy the islands in the Saronic Guld. Early departure from the hotel to the port of Piraeus to start our cruise to the Saronic Gulf. You are free to visit each island. Aegina. The two main attractions are: The Monastery of Agios Nektarios and the Temple of Aphaia. Poros, the smallest of the three islands. Hydra: One of the most cosmopolitan and picturesque Greek islands in Greece. Return in the evening and transfer back to your hotel. Free evening and overnight in Athens.
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to enjoy the vibrant city. Revisit the historic sites or enjoy a day of shopping in the many shops in the city center. Overnight at the hotel in Athens.
After our breakfast we will have some free time. Early in afternoon , departure to visit Cape Sounion, passing by the magnificent beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, you will arrive at Cape Sounion – the southern end of Attica – where stand the white columns of the Temple of Poseidon. During the whole trip you will enjoy a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and numerous small islands, as scattered on the surface of the water. Return to Athens in the evening. After breakfast departure for Argolis passing through the Corinth Canal. We will stop at the canal. The place also offers a wide range of archaeological evidence, marks of the glorious past of this opulent city. We will continue our trip and visit the theater of Epidaurus, famous for its acoustics and above all a jewel in the sanctuary of Asclepius, the healing god. In antiquity, it was a high place of Greek medicine where all sick Greece came to receive care and oracles. Lunch at a local tavern. Continue to Nafplion, a charming city on the edge of the Argolis golf course. A maze of tangled alleys, shops, cafes and taverns, all topped by a dark fortress dating from the Venetian occupation in the 17th century. Overnight in Nafplion.
After breakfast we will start our trip to Sparta driving by the new road passing through Tripoli in the heart of the Peloponnese. Sparta was the capital of Laconia, the greatest rival of Athens. Sparta’s most famous king was Menelaos, the brother of Agamemnon and husband of the beautiful Eleni. Visit the famous are of Mystras. Return to Nafplion in the evening. Overnight in Nafplion.
After breakfast, departure for Mycenae about twenty kilometers north of Nafplion. Mycenae is the homeland of the Atrides and king Agamemnon. This fortress city and acropolis will give its name to an entire civilization. Imposing ruins, a wealth of architecture and many treasures testify to the past grandeur of the place. Free afternoon to enjoy the narrow streets and small hidden squares of the first capital of Greece. Overnight in Nafplion.
