Get to know the island’s cuisine and local delicacies. One of the island’s most famous dishes is the local version of an omelet, called froutalia, made with eggs, potatoes, local sausages, and finely chopped fresh mint. Try hortokeftedes (wild green fritters), patatokeftedes (potato fritters), stuffed zucchini blossoms, and braised rooster with pasta. In terms of sweets, the island has to offer lemon blossom jam, amygdalota (crushed almond treats), and kaltsounia (filled with crushed walnut) covered with powdered sugar and rosewater.

Transportation options to/from the airport
Andros is connected to Attica via the port of Rafina, and the journey takes only 2 hours by conventional ferry. There are daily routes, which become more frequent during weekends and the summer. Athens International Airport is located approximately 10 kilometers from Rafina. You can reach Rafina by bus from Pedion tou Areos in Athens.
Public Transportation
To get around within Andros, it is advisable to have your own vehicle because there are many beautiful places to discover and many kilometers you will need to cover. In case you don’t have one, there are local bus routes as well as taxis, which can take you anywhere you wish on the island.
