In an idyllic location, monks from Patmos built the Panagia Monastery in the late 16th century AD. The church’s treasured icon depicts the Virgin Mary holding Christ not as an infant, but dead on the cross—hence the name “Panagia tou Harou” (Our Lady of Death).

Go by air to Samos, Kos or Leros and from there by boat go to Lipsoi. The island is directly connected by ferry to the port of Piraeus and the other islands of the Dodecanese, Kalymnos, Kos, Patmos, Leros and Samos. For Arkoi you can travel by air to Rhodes, Kos and Leros and then by boat to Patmos or Lipsoi. By boat, Arkoi is connected, daily, with Lipsoi and Patmos.
Public Transportation
Transportation in Lipsoi is typically on foot due to the small size of the island, with a rental motorbike or with public buses, which lead to the most remote beaches of the island. In contrast to Arkoi, the presence of vehicles is extremely limited. Discover the beauties of Arkoi on foot or with your own motorbike, since there is no public transport or motorbike rental office on the island.
